Grand Cru Engelberg wines

There are two kinds of wines of the Grand Cru Engelberg :

Riesling Grand Cru Engelberg

The Riesling Grand Cru Engelberg terroir consists of three south-facing terraces.

The shallow layer of soil sits on top of hard limestone, forcing the roots to grow through cracks in the limestone.

The grapes mature very regularly and achieve remarkable balance on maturity. The wines reflect the character of the terroir: the high aromatic concentration, fullness and tight acid structure making it an ideal wine for laying down.

While the young wine offers an impressive overall harmony, the Engelberg reaches its true level of sophistication and complexity after a few years.

Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Engelberg

Our Gewurztraminer plot follows the same direction as the slope of the Scharrach, facing the sun.

Here, the Grand Cru terroir provides dense concentration and structure, held together by its precise acidity.

The rose aromas are combined with spicy and mineral notes.

Powerful and long in the mouth with a very clean finish, the Engelberg wines are synonymous with balance.

The calcareous subsoil of the terroir provides delicate aromas, structure and complexity.
